What Makes Our Sausages Special?
Handmade by Our Own Butchers
Every pack of Traditional Thick Pork Sausages is prepared in-house by our skilled butchers at The Artisan Butcher in Warwick.
We believe that a proper butcher's sausage should be made with care, using quality meat and a well-balanced traditional recipe.
Free-Range British Pork
We use carefully selected cuts of free-range British pork to create sausages with delicious natural flavour and juiciness.
Our emphasis is on quality ingredients and traditional butchery rather than mass production.
Traditional Herbs & Spices
Our seasoning blend includes sage, white pepper, coriander and nutmeg, creating the familiar savoury flavour of a classic British pork sausage.
The herbs and spices complement the pork without overpowering it.
A Gluten-Free Recipe
Our Traditional Thick Pork Sausages are made using a gluten-free crumb formulation instead of conventional wheat-based rusk.
This means customers can enjoy the familiar taste and texture of a traditional butcher's sausage without deliberately added gluten-containing ingredients.
Please note: The recipe contains sulphites, and customers with coeliac disease or severe allergies should confirm suitability with us before ordering.
Cooking Instructions
Our Traditional Thick Pork Sausages are supplied raw and must be thoroughly cooked before eating.
For the best results, cook until the sausages are piping hot throughout and the centre reaches 75°C.
Oven Cooking – Recommended
Oven: 190°C / 170°C Fan / Gas Mark 5
-
Preheat your oven.
-
Remove the sausages from their packaging.
-
Arrange them on a lightly oiled baking tray, leaving a little space between each sausage.
-
Place in the centre of the oven.
-
Cook for approximately 25–30 minutes, turning halfway through.
-
Check that the sausages are thoroughly cooked and reach an internal temperature of 75°C before serving.
Cooking times may vary depending on sausage thickness and individual ovens.
Pan Frying
-
Heat a little oil in a frying pan over a medium-low heat.
-
Add the sausages and cook gently.
-
Turn regularly to develop an even golden-brown colour.
-
Allow approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on thickness.
-
Check that the centre reaches 75°C before serving.
Avoid cooking over excessively high heat, as this can brown the outside before the centre is fully cooked.
Barbecue Cooking
-
Prepare your barbecue with a moderate, controlled heat.
-
Place the sausages over an area of indirect heat where possible.
-
Turn regularly to prevent burning.
-
Move briefly over direct heat towards the end of cooking if additional colour is required.
-
Check that the sausages reach 75°C at the centre before serving.
Important: Never rely on colour alone to determine whether pork sausages are cooked. A food thermometer provides the most reliable check.
